Jamison Ross

Sunday, July 2 | Bullen Park | 6:30pm

“Grammy-nominated vocalist and drummer Jamison Ross enthralled the audience… and, without missing a beat, drummed his way through complicated rhythmic riffs. It was a marvel to watch him do both simultaneously with such agility and flair.” – JazzTimes

The phenomenal Grammy-nominated singer, drummer, and producer Jamison Ross has made an indelible mark on the music world ever since winning the prestigious Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition at age 25. His style emanates from the intersection of R&B, gospel, blues, and neo-soul, and during the pandemic, he tapped deep into his soul influences – among them Marvin Gaye, Rance Allen, and Al Green – as well as writing songs.  A native of Florida, after relocating to New Orleans, Ross honed his talent and earned a Master of Music at the University of New Orleans before releasing his debut album, Jamison (2015) and receiving his first Grammy nomination. His follow up CD, All For One (2018), further showcased his fresh and intuitive musicality. In previous years, he has toured with Jon Batiste, and also as a member of Snarky Puppy. Ross’s unique ability to marry smooth vocal melodies with soulful production is sure to take audiences on a listening experience like never before, as heard in his most recent 2022 project, JAMO. He last appeared at TD JazzFest in 2018 in an emotional and uplifting performance, and there’s no better way to end TD JazzFest 2023 than by dancing outside to Ross’s groovy and soul-drenched tunes! Cory Irvin keyboards, Brandon Butler keyboards, Max Moran bass, Rick Lollar guitar
