Victoria Jazz Society

An Evening With Chris Botti

Tuesday, June 27 | Royal Theatre | 7:30pm

“Botti’s work functions both on the level of flickering intimacy and thundering grandiosity.” – The New York Times

Grammy award-winning American trumpeter/composer Chris Botti has become the largest-selling American instrumental artist.  His success has crossed over to audiences usually reserved for pop music, and his ongoing association with PBS has led to four #1 jazz albums, as well as multiple awards.  Nominated for five Grammy awards and most recently winning the Grammy for “Best Pop Instrumental” for his album, Impressions, Botti continues to perform worldwide. Selling more than four million albums, he has found a form of creative expression that begins in jazz and expands beyond the limits of any single genre. Over the past three decades, Botti has recorded and performed with the best in music, including Sting, Barbra Streisand, Tony Bennett, Lady Gaga, Josh Groban, Yo-Yo Ma, Michael Bublé, Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell, John Mayer, Andrea Bocelli, Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler, and Frank Sinatra. Chris Botti has thoroughly established himself as one of the important, innovative figures of the contemporary music world. Welcome Chris Botti back to Victoria and witness his musical ingenuity live!

JUST ANNOUNCED: Joining Chris Botti for this performance will be Mack Avenue recording artist Veronica Swift, who has made her mark on the international jazz scene as one of the star vocalists of her era. Swift leapt into an instantly impressive career that included touring with Chris Botti, Benny Green, and Wynton Marsalis. The charismatic Swift has now established herself as a skilled rock and soul singer. Her third album, TransGenre (2023), will venture into mixing jazz and classical with rock, soul, and funk. Swift’s ability to transcend different styles with authenticity makes her one of the most skillful singers in any genre.
